Renovations & Wall Removals
Opening up a main floor or reworking a layout?
- Load-bearing wall removal & beam design
- Basement & kitchen reconfigurations
- Sealed drawings for your permit
From a single beam to a whole new build, Eastern Engineering Group gives Brockville and Eastern Ontario homeowners sealed, permit-ready drawings — and a Professional Engineer who actually picks up the phone.
Renovating or building is stressful enough without an engineer who talks over your head or disappears after sending a bill. We explain what your project actually needs, quote it in writing, and stand behind the drawings we seal — the same way we have for Eastern Ontario families since 1989.
Six of the things homeowners ask us for most. Don't see yours? Just ask — residential work is our daily bread.

More space without leaving the home you love.
From your lot and your vision to a sealed set.
The outdoor projects that still need a permit.
For a purchase, a permit, your insurer or your peace of mind.
The full set your municipality asks for.
No jargon, no runaround. Here's exactly how a residential project runs with us.
Call, email, or send a few photos and a description. We'll tell you what your project needs — often on the first call, at no charge.
Where needed, an engineer visits to confirm the structure, then we send a written fixed-fee quote with a clear scope and timeline.
We prepare and seal your drawings or report to the Ontario Building Code 2024 — ready for your contractor and your building department.
We help you submit and answer any questions the plan reviewer has, so your permit doesn't stall.
During construction we provide the general review the Code requires, with field reports issued to the building department through to completion.

"We wanted to open up our main floor and had no idea where to start. They walked us through it, sent the sealed beam drawing fast, and our permit went through without a hitch."
"Honest, local, and they explained everything in plain English. The Structural Engineer's Report we needed for our purchase was ready ahead of schedule."
"We built our retirement home with them on the structural side. Responsive, professional, and the kind of firm that answers the phone when you call."
In almost all cases, yes. Your building department will want a sealed drawing from a Professional Engineer showing the new beam and how the load is carried. We confirm the load path on site and provide a sealed drawing your contractor can submit with the building permit — usually within one to two weeks.
It depends on the size of the home and what prompted the report, but most residential reports fall in a predictable range and we quote a fixed fee in writing before we start. Send us a description and a few photos and we'll come back with a clear price. Read our guide to Structural Engineer's Reports →
Yes. We prepare sealed structural drawings and, where needed, the building design and permit drawings your municipality requires, and we can carry the general review during construction that the Ontario Building Code calls for on many residential projects.
Straightforward items such as beam designs and Structural Engineers' Reports are typically one to two weeks from the site visit. Larger additions and new builds are scheduled by written proposal so you always know the timeline up front.
Send a few photos and a description of what you're planning. A Professional Engineer will reply with clear next steps and a free, written quote — usually within two business days.
